Watch This!

Have ADHD and need a reminder to take your meds?
— or —
are you just obsessed with Outlook that you need to have your calendar with you all the time?

Well, I’m both, which is why I needed to find a way to keep a schedule.  I tried to use a couple of PDA’s, starting with a Handspring Neo, which ended up being more of a toy than anything.  Then I traded up to my Sony Clié, which works a bit better, but the alarm wasn’t loud enough.  Besides, who wants to keep flipping the cover and turning it on to check your calendar?  But, we’ll get back to that…

Here’s the winner…

Timex's Personal Organizer watch!  (I’m using the Ironman Triathlon Data Link USB watch, which has been just great.  I use it to hook up to my Outlook calendar, which is loaded with class times, appointments, reminders, etc.  Having the alarm set to remind me to take meds is great, and the alarms can be set for multiple times each day.  Perfect for those who get up at different times on different days during the week.

There’s also a group on Yahoo! that is dedicated to the watches.  There are multiple tweaks and downloads for anyone who’s interested.

Ego Stroker

I love playing with new toys, but since I’m only a college student I can’t always afford them.  That’s why I love the Internet, and all the fun, free stuff people smarter than me develop so I can play with.  The latest is egoSurf, which lets you see who else is linking to your blog.  It uses Google as it search engine, then returns linkbacks in the form of “Ego Points”.  You can see mine here.  I’ll keep a running count on this blog, right below the wonderful “How much is your blog worth?” counter (currently at 0).  Yay!
